Dermapen in Victoria, TX
Dermapen therapy is a very safe, affordable procedure that requires no downtime, and has minimal pain and discomfort. The automated needling motion and stamping action of the device facilitates better absorption of topicals such as hyaluronic acid and peptides, thereby enhancing results.
What is micro-needling?
Micro-needling dates back centuries, to the early days of acupuncture in China. Methods and devices have evolved over the years, into the modern concept of micro-needling, which is also known as collagen induction therapy or CIT.
As the needles go back and forth, they reach down to the dermis of the skin and stimulate collagen production. As collagen remodels, skin becomes tighter, and conditions such as scars, photoaging, and wrinkles are improved.
Prior to treatment, patients should avoid excess sun exposure and sunburns. In addition, they should discontinue the use of Retin-A products 12 hours before treatment, and skin should be cleansed, and free of all make-up.
After treatment sun patients should only have limited sun exposure, and sunscreen must be applied when going out in the sun. Makeup should be avoided until the following day after treatment, and toners containing alcohol should be avoided for at least 2 weeks.
Advantages of Dermapen
The adjustable micro-needles make it easier to cater to the individualized skin care needs of each patient. In addition, it is easy to maneuver around facial contours and delicate areas like the eyes. Also, because it is such an efficient device treatment times are shorter, and there are few side-effects.
In addition, the automated stamping motion of the Dermapen minimizes pain. The Dermapen can be used on all skin types and skin tones.
How the Dermapen improves common skin conditions:
- Wrinkles and skin elasticity – The vertical stamping action of Dermapen increases the availability of nutrients to the cells, and stimulates new skin growth.
- Hyperpigmentation – The micro-point punctures created by the Dermapen increases skin lightening activities, and restores epidermal cell function. It also normalizes the action of melanocytes, which are the cells that cause the skin to darken.
- Rosacea – It stimulates epidermal cell growth and this strengthens collagen, making skin tighter. The increased growth of platelets reduces inflammation, improves skin resiliency, and provides more nutrients and anti-oxidants to the cells.
- UV Damage – The cells receive more nutrients, and this helps stimulate the immune system function to the damaged cells.
- Stretch Marks & Scars – Stretch marks are the result of tears to the connective tissue of the skin, and this causes epidermal atrophy and loss of epidermal contours. The Dermapen stimulates collagen and also causes the skin over the stretch marks to thicken, which helps to restore the contours.
